Venturing Home

The sun was setting, as the ampharos and larvesta had been travelling for quite a while. They found themselves in a dusty landscape, with no vegetation.

Ectra carried on, with Amber following closely behind.

"I was hoping to get home before nightfall," she commented, "but I suppose that isn't going to happen."

-sticks closes to Ampharos-

"It's better to stay close"

"I promise you. My home looks a lot nicer than this place. We shouldn't have to be here long."

-She nods in agreement-

"I wouldn't want to..."

The two pokemon trotted along as the sky grew increasingly dark. Against the dark violet sky, Ectra could make out a faint silhouette. It grew bolder, until coming into view.

"Stay close to me," she remarked to Amber.

A fearow was soaring overhead, until making a circle in the air and then coming in for a landing.

The fearow spoke in a sly voice, "Hello travelers. You look lost."

-Amber hides behind Ectra and avoids making eye contact with the strange new creature-

Ectra grew defensive, and made her stance more aggressive.

"We know exactly where we're going, thank you. We'll be on our way now."

The fearow replied, "You know, there's a dust storm picking up. I can feel it."

"I suppose we should head our ways then."

"Oh, a big, tall pokemon like you has no worries. You can rough it through. Your little bug friend, though, might not be so lucky. I'm a kind fellow. I'll tell you what: I'll fly the little thing to safety, and we could meet up west of here."

"We needn't any help from you!" shot back Ectra.

-Amber uses string shot and attached herself onto Ectra's back and wraps herself in a cocoon-

"This should protect me"

Ectra, not knowing what Amber was doing on her back, became startled. She began to fidget.

"Ah! What are you doing?"

The fearow chuckled at the scene. He commented, "Ha. Some guardian you are."

-She giggles-

"Don't mind me"

The fearow went on, "Just give me the bug." He began to spread his wings intimidatingly.

Ectra composed herself. She began to glare at the bird. "Leave us alone. I'm not what I used to be, but I'm more than enough to take you on!"

"The old lady wants to fight? You're making a brash decision there. You ought to get out of here now."

Ectra stepped forward, and raised her arms. She began collecting electric power between them, illuminating the area and sending sparks in different directions.

"I'm not going anywhere!"

-Stays snuggled in her cocoon-

The fearow became visibly frightened by the pyrotechnic display. Ectra kept up the lights for several seconds, until finally creating a lightning bolt that shot up into the air before dissipating.

There was silence for a good bit. By now, it was completely dark. The fearow and ampharos stood opposite, staring each other down in the starlight.

Finally, the fearow spoke, "I better not see you in my territory again." He spread his wings, and took off.

Ectra sighed in relief as the attacker flew away.

"I bet he didn't think I was an electric type."

-peeks her head out slightly-

"Type?"

Ectra replied, "There are many different types of Pokémon in the world. I'm an electric type, which was lucky for us, because he was a flying type. His type makes him weak to my attacks."

She began walking again, "You can come on out now. The bad Pokémon is gone."

-She shakes her head-

"Nah, I'm comfy now also if there is a sandstorm then I'm good"

-She giggles-

"There's no sandstorm. That bird pokemon was trying... to hurt you."

-Snuggles in-

"Oh well, I'm not moving"

-She giggles-

"Alright with me, I guess, but this stuff you're sitting in better not stick to me later."

She continued on. Ectra had considered seeking shelter for the night, but the altercation with the fearow convinced her that she wanted to spend as little time in the badlands as possible.

"I think it's not much farther now."

-As the journey continued, Amber became more tired and finally fell asleep-

"..."

Ectra began to feel tired from walking. She was not the energetic young pokemon she once was.

As she trotted along, more slowly, she began to see tufts of grass emerging from the ground.

She smiled a little. The journey would be not much longer.
